Distilled at the Nikka-owned Ben Nevis Distillery in Scotland and aged for ten years before bottling at a cask strength of 119.8 proof, this California red wine finished single malt from Ingelred is a rich and intense dram that will satisfy lovers of flavorful, spicy Highland malt.  

The nose opens with scents of rich honeyed malt backed by both sweet red berries and tart blackberries.  The palate begins surprisingly spicy, with tongue tingling notes of black pepper, allspice, and clove before the red wine influence brings some sweet balance with flavors of red jam, heathered honey, and milk chocolate.  Allspice returns on the finish, where it is joined by cinnamon and candied citrus.  

Ingelred Whisky is a newer independent bottler based in Otterbacken, Sweden.  Named after a legendary Viking sword, Ingelred was founded by three whisky loving friends seeking to create uniquely matured whisky by combining Scottish craftsmanship with Nordic innovation.
